Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer Vacancy
The Parish Council is seeking a self-motivated person to fill the role of Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer to the Council.
8 hours per week (extra hours may be required from time to time). Salary: LC2 SCP 24 – 28 £28,672 – £32,234 pro rata (based on experience & qualifications).
The role is home based but the successful candidate must be prepared to attend evening meetings. Some work may require meeting representatives and contractors on site. We have ten parish council meetings, held every month (except August and December) usually on the second Monday of the month, in the evening, and there may be additional meetings as and when required.
Applicants must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; the ability to understand and interpret local government law; possess skills in financial management; a willingness to learn and show a positive response to challenge and change. A high level of competence in office IT is essential, and the applicant will manage the Parish Council website..
Ideally applicants will hold the Certificate in Local Council Administration qualification (CiLCA), but we would welcome applications from people who feel their skills and experience would meet the requirements of the role, and who would be willing to work towards this, with support from the council. Induction and training opportunities will be provided.
The post holder plays a key role in ensuring that the Parish Council meets standards, supporting the Parish Councillors and responding to Parishioners and Officials from the District and County Council.

Broadwas and Cotheridge is a rural parish covering 1290 hectares. The Parish Council consists of 9 Councillors (5 representing Boadwas and 4 for Cotheridge).The Parish Council meet on the second Monday of the month except for August and December when there are no scheduled meetings. Meetings are held at the village hall in Broadwas at 7.30pm, except for July when the meeting is usually held at St Leonard’s church, Cotheridge.
Agendas for each meeting are displayed on the web site and in the 4 noticeboards around the parish.
